Dr. A. Fahmy:
After completing his residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago in 1999, Dr. Fahmy worked in the field of Palliative medicine were he learned the importance of aggressively treating patients pain and suffering and became a strong believer that every patient has the right to be pain free. Very early on in his career he became very interested in drug dependence and addiction and their tremendous impact on patients and their families. He pioneered the use of Buprenorphine for treatment of opiate dependence in Chicago and developed multiple treatment protocols to suit various patients populations; subsequently, he became a mentor to physicians in Chicago and beyond who are interested in practicing in the field of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Fahmy has been interviewed on TV about his treatment philosophy and has given numerous lectures and presentations about this disease. For 2 years in a row Dr. Fahmy has been invited by government agencies (Substance Abuse and Mental Health administration and the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment) to speak about the programs that he developed in the field of addiction medicine and on how to increase access to treatment in community health centers. >

Patrick J. Cunningham. Counselor, MA, LCPC
Before entering graduate school, Pat was actively involved in setting up a Biofeedback center in the community college where he worked. Once Pat graduated, he provided career counseling there before entering the field of addictions counseling, at the suggestion of a friend of the family. Pat then served as an Addictions Counselor in two different programs, one hospital-based and one "free-standing". He later joined a private practice in the western suburbs of Chicago, leading three different kinds of group therapy, and providing individual, couple, and family therapy. He also served as an Employee Assistance Counselor. At that time, Pat was invited to join an Addictions Counselor Training Program, where he served as an Instructor, Fieldwork Supervisor, and later, Director of that program. Pat then opened his own private practice of counseling and therapy. In addition to providing the modalities of therapy listed above, Pat served as a group leader for Family Reconstruction workshops. He served as an Instructor in a Master's degree program in Human Services (Substance Abuse). He has also provided training designed to help small businesses start an Employee Assistance Program. Pat is described as knowledgeable, intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, creative, intuitive, spiritual, trustworthy, empathic, considerate, open, direct, challenging, mentoring and flexible.
