Buprenex Injectable Treatment

Buprenex injectable is one of the forms of this painkiller available in the US. The basic drug is buprenorphine. While Buprenex injectable was released as a pain killer, it is not approved for treatment and detox of addiction. Its sub lingual tablet version, as Suboxone is used in the treatment of withdrawal symptoms for detox of other prescription meds, as well as treatment of addiction to stronger opiates such as morphine, codeine and heroin.

Methadone was the only de-addiction medicine allowed for a long time. Such treatment was under strict control and done in special directly supervised clinics.
Drug Addiction and treatment act of 2000 allowed treatment by other agents. This modified DATA act allowed for more flexible treatment regimes such as OBOT or the office based opioid treatment method.

Buprenorphine binds to the same opiate receptors that would have been used by the drug the patient is addicted to. The bond is stronger, and effectively dislodges the other opiate and neutralizes its effects. Strangely as the dosage is increased the effect of buprenorphine does not increase. There are rare instances of addiction to Buprenex injectable which may need treatment, but the advantage is that its withdrawal symptoms are slow to become effective, and milder than that of other opiates, making it easier to detox from. Though this behavior of the drug is not explainable, detox using Buprenorphine is made highly effective by it.

Buprenex injectable is not approved for the treatment, and detox treatment has been permitted for only two tablet forms of the drug, known as Subutex and suboxone. These tablets are to be left under the tongue for more than 5 minutes. While Subutex is buprenorphine only, suboxone includes some Nalaxone. When ingested via mouth the naloxone is not absorbed, however, if combined with Buprenex injectable, for example, the nalaxone is absorbed. Use of Nalaxone makes withdrawal symptoms very difficult if taken via injections. Buprenorphine itself being an opiate there’s always a danger of diversion and abuse. Hence the introduction of the Nalaxone mix, to deter street use. Thus quite often it is recommended that addiction treatment be done with suboxone only.

Buprenex injectable use in treatment is not permitted at all. The only permitted use of buprenorphine in injectible form is as a painkiller for human and veterinary use. Buprenex can cause dizziness, drowsiness or even impaired thinking. What that means is during the time you are on this drug do not drive, run a machine or other hazardous activity that call for full functioning of your faculties. When you are on another tranquilizer taking Buprenex injectable could be dangerous, even fatal. Prescribing physician must be told of all the medicines you are taking, including herbal and other over-the-counter formulations. Medicines in the anti depressant, anti histamines and sedatives and other pain relievers are the ones to look out for in particular.

Occasional or casual use should be avoided as it can develop Buprenex injectable addiction. On the other hand when on a treatment you should not stop abruptly, to avoid withdrawal. Decide on graduated dosages with your doctor to help prevent problems.

Buprenex injectable should not be taken if you have an allergy to any of its components. Similarly taking it during pregnancy may cause withdrawal symptom in the baby. Avoid Buprenex injectable treatment if there’s a problem with your prostate, kidney, gall bladder, adrenal gland or respiration or Hypothyroidism. Avoid Buprenex injectable treatment if you have an alcoholism problem or have mental problems such as hallucinations. In all such cases let the physician decide correct dosages if he decides to use Buprenex injectable at all for you.
