This drug is a short acting potent drug, which is used by anesthetists for anesthesia in surgery. It is a restricted drug i.e. a schedule II drug. This drug should be consumed under the strict and careful monitoring of a doctor otherwise this may cause respiratory depression and thus cause danger to one’s life. This medicine was found in 1976 by Janssen Pharmaceutical. Alfentanil is an intravenous injection.
