Butorphanol is an intravenously injected drug or a nasally administered spray that is an analgesic, used for relieving moderate to severe pain. The drug is retailed in the US under the trade name of Stadol®. Other trade names are Moradol® and Befural®. Butorphanol is classified as a synthetic opioid analgesic of the morphinan type.
