It is sold in several alternative names in the market, such as Algil, Alodan, Centralgin, Demerol, Dispadol, Dolantin, Dolestine, Dolosal and Mefedina. The other non-brand names for meperidine are isonipecaine, lidol, pethanol, pethidine and piridosal. Demerol is its popular name in North America. It is classified as an opioid analgesic drug.
