Administration/Dosage of Novahistex
Novahistex is available as a red colored syrup with a raspberry flavor.
It is only available for oral administration. The dosage is indicated on the
prescription label, but if the doctor gives a prescription, then that must
be adhered to. The dosage of Novahistex differs from patient to patient,
depending on the medical condition. The general dosage for adults is 30
milligrams of the syrup every 6 to 8 hours, and for children between 6 to 12
years of age, the dosage is 15 milligrams every 6 to 8 hours, or 7
milligrams every 3 to 4 hours. For children between 2 to 6 years, the dosage
is 7.5 milligrams every 6 to 8 hours, or 3.5 milligrams every 3 to 4 hours.
For children below 2 years, the dosage will be determined by the doctor.
Doses should never be doubled. If the person is on a regular treatment with
Novahistex, and a dose is missed, then it must be taken as soon as possible.
But if it time for the next dose, then the missed dose must be skipped.
Taking double doses will cause adverse side-effects.
